Statement of Sale

The Statement of Sale is a notarized document between the buyer and the seller and is approved by the Department of Revenue to use as proof of Sales Tax paid should the Department of Revenue audit your transaction.

Reconstructed Title Transfers

Fazio Tag Service, Lansdale's premier provider of fast tag services, is able to title and instantly register any reconstructed vehicle(s) that are marked as "online processing required" on form MV426B. Any MV426B's not eligible for online processing will be completed and forwarded to PennDOT.
All MV426B's need to be completed by an Enhanced Inspection Mechanic prior to processing.

GUIDE FOR NEW PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS

  • Below are the documents required to register a vehicle and obtain a Pennsylvania driver’s license.

To Obtain a Pennsylvania Vehicle Registration You Will Need

  1. Your out-of-state title (Loan or lease? Use our Electronic Title Request Form or our Manual Title Request PDF Form)
  2. Pennsylvania insurance in the name of the registered owner
  3. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license or Pennsylvania State ID
  4. We are required by Pennsylvania law to verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), by either completing 1 or 2 below
    1. The vehicle must be present at time of transfer
    2. The MV-41 must be completed


To Obtain a Pennsylvania Driver’s License You Will Need

You must go to a driver exam center with your current out of state driver’s license, Social Security card, Birth Certificate, and two forms of residency in Pennsylvania.

Below are the three closest driver exam centers from the Lansdale area:

  • Dublin – Dublin Village Plaza, 161 N. Main St. (Rt. 313)

FAQ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Title Transfers for Private Sellers

All of the sellers listed on the front of the title must be present with valid government photo issued identification and the title.

There is no cost to the seller.

  1. A valid insurance card with the owner’s name listed on the identification card (if the vehicle is being registered).
  2. A valid PA driver’s license or PA state identification.
  3. If the vehicle is currently titles in another state, you will need the vehicle or an mv-41 completed by a mechanic.
  4. If paying by check, you will need two checks.

In most cases you will get a permanent registration card on the spot and the title will arrive within 2-3 weeks.  If processed manually, you will receive a temporary and the permanent documents will arrive with 90 days.  All titles that have a lien will go to your lienholder. 

You have 90 days from the date of purchase to apply for a free re-issuance. If you did not receive the title you need to come into our office to apply for a replacement. There will be no cost if you come in within the first 90 days.

All vehicle purchase prices in Pennsylvania are compared to what PennDOT deems is the vehicles actual value. When PennDOT feels you paid less then the auctual vehicle of the vehicle, Penndot will forward the transaction information to the Department of Revenue for review. In most cases you would have completed form MV-3 (sales tax affidavit) during your title transaction that states why the vehicle was purchased less than 80% of book value. The Department of Revenue cannot make you pay the rate of sales tax based on the book value of the vehicle but they can request you to forward proof of purchase. Should you receive this letter and have any questions please contact our office.

Title Transfers for Companies

  1. You will need a letter on company letter head stating the person present for the transaction is authorized to sell the vehicle.
  2. The title and valid identification.
